Hi, I’m Ainslie
About me:
I was born in Melbourne, Australia, but I was raised in Brisbane. I then moved to the Czech Republic (now Czechia) for two years before landing in Caceres, Spain in 2007. I was only going to stay for one year, but Spain stole my heart, and I have been living here ever since. I currently live in Malaga.
I guess my love of traveling began when I was four, and took my first unaccompanied minor flight to Melbourne to visit my grandparents. They took my sister and I on so many day trips and adventures! Since then, in Australia I’ve seen most of the East coast, driving from Townsville to Melbourne, visiting larger cities like Sydney and smaller towns like Byron Bay in between.
When I was living in Czechia, I explored most of the country, and I’ve also visited Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Greece, Morocco, Poland, Sweden, Cuba, Canada, the USA, Croatia, and New Zealand.
My personal experience in the travel industry began in 2023, when I discovered I had a knack for Travel SEO and Content Strategy.
Here are my Spain top 5s:
1: Favorite Spanish city
Caceres, Extremadura will always hold a special place in my heart: it’s where I discovered the kindness of Spanish people, the delicious food, and of course, learnt to speak Spanish.
2: Favorite Spanish food
In Extremadura, meat rules, and I would have to say ox tail (rabo de toro) or pork cheeks (carrillada) are my favorite. In Malaga, any fried fish is a winner!
3: Favorite Spanish monument
The Roman Theatre in Merida. I’ve had the privilege of seeing concerts and operas there. An absolutely amazing experience!
4: Favorite Spanish festival
I love any feria! I’ve been to the ferias in Caceres, Badajoz, San Fernando, Malaga, Torremolinos, Almeria, Feria de los Paises (Fuengirola) and a few others. Always a fun time.
5: Favorite Spanish pueblo
Trujillo has a gorgeous castle and historical center, and a great cheese and wine festival. Frigiliana is also cute, with quaint, winding, cobblestone streets.
