Spain Less Traveled is committed to responsible and sustainable travel

Reducing carbon emissions

We promote sustainable transportation. We are committed to reducing flying by focusing on regional travel & designing Spain travel itineraries that make use of sustainable transportation such as trains instead of domestic flights whenever possible.

Sustainable Accommodations

Whenever possible, we make use of accommodations that are eco-friendly and sustainable. We love giving business to hotels that are committed to reducing waste, especially plastics, and that use renewable energy sources as much as possible.

Supporting local businesses

Spain Less Traveled is committed to supporting local businesses whenever possible Our itineraries include tours, experiences, and day trips that use locally-owned tour operators on the ground.

Saying NO to animal cruelty

We do not support animal cruelty. We do not promote or recommend things like burro taxis or horse and carriage rides. We are against bullfighting and do not arrange tickets to fights or the like. But we recognize that it is a tradition in many parts of Spain. We encourage those interested to visit a bullfighting museum instead.

Preserving local communities

As travelers, we are visitors to local communities. We believe in experiential travel over mass tourism, where visitors can interact with locals to truly immerse themselves. Through art, architecture, gastronomy, history & nature, we celebrate Spain’s unique culture(s).

No “voluntourism”

As well intentioned as it is, many forms of voluntourism are often detrimental to the communities they claim to help. We do not plan trips that include voluntourism, and instead give back by planning culturally in-depth trips. If you want to make a donation to a Spanish non-profit, we are happy to make a few suggestions.
