Hi, I’m Maybritt
About me:
I was born and raised in a small town in Denmark. Already in my youth, I wanted to explore living abroad and started off gently by moving first to Norway, and later Sweden. After that, I was ready for a bigger leap and I went to Malaga, Spain, for a 6-month stay, but I quickly fell in love with the city and I’m currently living here going on 8 years.
For me, traveling has never been so much about visiting the typical tourist sights. I was always more interested in the feeling of living in a different place. Getting to know the culture, routines, and experience the more local feel of a new place. That being said, I do love to travel and I have visited most European countries with great joy.
I also really like island life, and my favourite trips have been to the Azores Islands of Portugal and Saint Kitts in the Caribbean. I recently started my own blog about Malaga, with local tips, guides and practical advice for expats starting a new life in Spain.
My Spain top 5’s:
Favorite Spanish city
Malaga is my favorite Spanish city.
Maybe not surprising, since I live here, but Malaga has really stolen my heart.
A runner up would be Valencia.
2. Favorite Spanish food
Jamon Iberico. It’s just always delicious paired with a nice glass of red wine, preferably from the Spanish wine region, Rioja.
3. Favorite Spanish monument
Plaza Espana in Seville. It’s just a super nice and relaxed place to spend a sunny Spanish afternoon.
4. Favorite Spanish festival
Though I haven’t been yet, Las Fallas in Valencia is at the top of my list. I hope this year will be the year that I finally get to experience it.
5. Favorite Spanish pueblo
Setenil de las Bodegas, Cadiz. Very small, but cozy, and beautiful.
